Illuminated Signs

Exterior signage works well during the day, but at night when the light changes, that’s when certain businesses need illuminated signs. There is no point having a really great sign, if your customers can’t find you when its dark, lighting can make a big difference to the impact of your sign.

Illuminated signs used in conjunction with translucent and opaque graphics and material can produce various attractive effects. Standard light boxes are normally made from anodized aluminium, but can be custom made in acrylic, steel, brass or other materials in a variety of shapes and sizes. Illumination can be front, side or rear halo illumination. There is also an edge light system where the graphic or lettering is engraved onto a clear acrylic and the engraved area only illuminates. With modern trends towards carbon emissions LED’s use a fraction of electricity to power up compared to fluorescent tubes. The average running life of a LED compared to a conventional fluorescent is 50,000hrs – 2,000hrs, requiring very little maintenance. Although neon and fluorescent signs have been around for decades, LED has now become the illumination of choice for many business owners and planning officers over the past few years, due to its low power levels.
